Day Two: Memphis, TN

This morning we began our journey to Memphis, TN. After a quick trip to the Wally World in Winchester, we packed our belongings and headed over to the Chevron to fill up... only to find they were out of gas. This was a GREAT annoyance. Ugh. Luckily, a fuel truck pulled up right as I was starting to get REALLY irritated at each cent rolling forward slower than molasses.

So, off we went and were on our way. There isn't much to say about our journey other than the fac that we crossed the Tennessee River and progressed through Nashville rather quickly. (Luckily, KB got some good pictures of the skyline!) It was sometime between Nashville & Memphis that the rains started and made the ride rather tedious. We stopped in Portland, TN for a quick fill up and KB found a random winery that was next to the gas station.

And my question is, was this a good or bad thing? Do they use the gasoline to help ferment the grapes? Let's hope not!

We finally made it to Memphis and were going to stop at the Harley-Davidson shop when we pulled up to find it C-L-O-S-E-D! :( I was rather angered... KB grabbed the camera and shot some pics of it just to prove we went there, and then pointed out a sign for the Graceland Harley-Davidson store... so there's a chance we'll be there tomorrow!

FYI- There is still a debate going on about whether we'll stop at Graceland, or just snap pics as we're driving by. And... now there's the possible option of heading to the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, AR! Who knows! I will keep you posted though.

We ended the night with a yummy dinner at Corky's BBQ, which definitely makes some WONDERFUL pork BBQ and their sauce is pretty good too! In order to be slightly less full, we then headed to Beale Street where I got glimpses of a smaller version of Bourbon Street. I think if we weren't in for such a long haul tomorrow, then we might have stuck around a little longer than we did and had an adult beverage. But, mom and I have already made a pact to try to come back to do just that. Oh, and catch a baseball game too. Apparently, the AutoZone Stadium is right downtown and has a decent AAA team!
